This work can be done smarter.

  • The planning or records live in a spreadsheet, and nobody fully trusts the list.
  • Data is retyped by hand from one system into another.
  • A lot of time goes into checking, looking things up and forwarding.
  • Having software built was considered, but it was too expensive on your own.

Chances are other organisations have exactly the same problem: colleagues in your sector, members of your trade association or contacts in your network. Find them, and together have software built that was too expensive on your own.

Building alone or together

Having it built alone

  • You pay for the entire build yourself.
  • For one problem that is often too expensive, so it does not happen.
  • The work stays in spreadsheets and manual steps.

Having it built together

  • You find organisations with the same problem and design the solution together.
  • You share the build costs with the group. The software becomes a Shared Dev product, which keeps the price low.
  • If other organisations start using the software too, you can earn back your build costs and even use the software for free.

Why the build stays affordable

What we build together becomes a Shared Dev product. Because we then also offer that product to other organisations, we do not need to make money on the build. That is how we build it for the lowest possible price.

When new customers join, your group benefits too. Depending on the build costs and what new customers pay per month, we agree a payment for your group. That way you can get your build costs back, and once revenue is high enough, you use the software for free.

How it works

  1. You form a group

Find organisations with the same problem, up to seven at most. Think of colleagues in your sector, your trade association or your own network.

  2. You make a proposal together

Together you describe what the software should do, and you appoint one point of contact for us. You also decide later how it is extended.

  3. You receive a quote

Based on your proposal we prepare a quote for the build. Once you agree, Shared Dev builds the software as its own product.

Examples

Sound familiar? For problems like these, standard software is often too big, too expensive or just does not fit. Together with others, you have software built that does fit.

  • Which quotes are still open?

Now: Quotes go out by email and are tracked in a spreadsheet, if at all. Nobody knows which ones need a follow-up call.

Together: An overview of all quotes and their status, and a nudge when it is time to follow up.

  • Who has the van tomorrow?

Now: Vans, trailers and tools are arranged in a WhatsApp group. Something is double-booked, or not back in its place.

Together: Book them in an app, showing who has what and when it is back.

  • Is my order ready yet?

Now: Customers call to ask how their order is doing. Someone walks around to find out.

Together: Every order has a status customers can follow themselves.

  • Where did the hours go?

Now: Hours are written on notes and sent in messages. At the end of the month it takes days to collect everything for the invoices.

Together: Record hours straight away per client and job, ready to invoice.

  • Who has completed their training hours?

Now: Members of a professional or trade association email proof of their training. The office tracks in a spreadsheet who is still short of hours.

Together: Members record their training themselves, and the office sees in one overview who still has to.

  • Who picks up this complaint?

Now: A complaint lands with whoever happens to read the email or answer the phone, and sometimes stays there.

Together: Every complaint in one place, with an owner and a deadline.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns the software?

Shared Dev. That lets us offer the software to other organisations too, and keeps the build affordable for you. Your group decides what the software does and how it is extended.

What does it cost?

That depends on what your group wants built. Based on your proposal you receive a quote, and you share the costs with the group.

How large should the group be?

Seven organisations at most, so the group can make decisions together. The more organisations take part, the less each one pays.

Who do we discuss the requirements with?

The group appoints one point of contact: the product owner. They collect the group's wishes and discuss them with us. If the group has three organisations or fewer and the product has a lot of potential, Shared Dev can take on that role.

Who is building together for?

For companies, but also for associations and foundations. A trade association or foundation can also start a group itself for members who share the same problem.

How do I find other organisations?

Think of fellow business owners in your sector, your trade or business association, or your own network. You often know them already.

When do I use the software for free?

Shared Dev also offers the software to other organisations for a monthly fee. Once they bring in enough, your group gets its build costs back and uses the software for free. We set out exactly how that works in the agreement with your group.
